Sri Lankan Lentil Curry (Dhal Curry)

Ingredients

1/2 Cup Lentils
1/2 Medium Onion (sliced)
4 Clove Garlic (sliced)
1/4 Teaspoon Turmeric
1/2 Teaspoon Raw curry powder
1/2 Teaspoon Chili powder
5 Curry leaves
1 Cinnamon sticks
1 Cup Coconut milk
1/2 Cup Water
To Temper The Lentil Curry
2 Tablespoon Oil
2 Dried red chillies
Garlic (sliced)
1/2 Onion (sliced)
3 Curry leaves

Directions:


Wash lentil properly few times.

Place it in a medium size saucepan.

Now add all the spices together with onion, curry leaves and garlic cloves for the curry.

Then add water and mix it well.

Bring to the boil Simmer and cook

Stirring occasionally until the lentil are boiled.

Once lentils is cooked add coconut milk and bring it to boil again.

When lentils is cooked transfer it to another saucepan.
To Temper The Lentil Curry

Heat oil in a saucepan

Add onion, garlic, curry leaves and fry it for 5 – 10 minutes.

Then add chili pieces and fry it for 2

Finally add the lentil curry Taste for salt.

Serve with rice.
