Ingredients:
For Koftas:
200 gms Paneer (Cottage Cheese)
2 Potatoes
1/2 tsp Red Chili Powder
1/4 tsp Garam Masala
2 tblsp Cornflour or flour
Oil for frying
For Gravy
2- 3 large Onions
3-4 Ripe Tomatoes
Coriander Leaves (Dhania Patta)
1/2 cup Fresh Curd
1/2 cup Cashewnut Powder (Lightly roast the cashews and grind them to a powder form)
1/2 tsp whole cumin seeds
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 tsp Red Chili Powder
1/4 tsp Turmeric powder
1/4 tsp Garam Masala
2-3 Bay leaves
2 tblsp Ghee or Butter
Procedure
• Boil potatoes, peel them and let them cool.
• Grate paneer and potatoes together in a large mixing bowl
• Add salt, red chili powder, garam masala, cornflour and mix well.
• Make small round balls out of this mixture.
• Now heat sufficient oil in a pan.
• Fry the paneer balls in the oil till golden in color.
• Grind onion and tomatoes together into a fine paste
• Heat oil in a pan.
• Add cumin seed and bay leaf until it sputters
• Add onion, tomato paste and fry it until slightly brownish in color
• Once the oil separates, add curd, cashewnut powder, salt, red chili powder,turmeric and garam masala.
• Fry the mix well and add up to 2 cups of water
• Put on the lid and let it simmer for 5 minutes.
• Put the flame off and add the fried kofta’s to the gravy and cover the vessel for a few minutes
